In this week’s quote, the narrator is listing all the food to be provided at the get-together after her husband’s funeral. (I don’t know the formatting as I am listening to this via audiobook.)
“Black-eyed pea cakes with shrimp, zucchini and corn fritters, coriander spiced beef fritters, burgundy beet risotto tarts, lemon-spiced chicken with dilled cucumbers, pigs in a blanket with mustard, which Claire always threw in as a joke, but was invariably the first thing the caterers ran out of because every one loved tiny hot dogs.”
Mmmm… tiny hot dogs… Need I say more? Thankfully, the grocery stores in this town are too insane to venture into. If they weren’t, you can bet I would be making pigs in a blanket right now!
